[ARCHIVED] Piperton Fire Department Smoke Alarm Saturation Plan

The Piperton Fire Department is continuing its work with the State of Tennessee with our participation in the Get Alarmed! Tennessee Program. This program is designed to provide smoke alarms for homes within participating communities.

"Get Alarmed, TN!" is a grant-funded fire safety education and smoke alarm installation program administered by the State Fire Marshall's Office (SFMO). Launched in November 2012, the program distributes fire safety education and 10-year sealed battery smoke alarms to participating fire departments. The fire departments then deliver the education and install smoke alarms in at-risk homes across the state.

Since late 2007, all new homes within the City of Piperton have been required to have a home fire sprinkler system installed during initial construction. For homes built prior to 2007, it was not required to have these life-saving systems in place.

The purpose of the Get Alarmed! Program is to provide access to smoke alarms for homes that do not possess alarms. In case of a home fire, these alarms may alert the home’s occupants and allow for evacuation, preventing a needless loss of life.

Detailed below is a schedule for smoke alarm canvases and installations by neighborhood. Please review this schedule to know when to expect your Piperton Fire Department members to be in your area.

If you are in immediate need of smoke alarms for your home, or have any questions or concerns regarding home fire safety, please feel free to contact the Piperton Fire Department at 901-853-2195 at any time, or visit the station at your convenience at 3575 Highway 196 South, Piperton, TN 38017.

Dates and times are subject to change based upon weather or emergency responses. Changes to any scheduled date or time will be posted. Thank you.
