Mayor's Welcome
Welcome to Piperton! Thank you for visiting our website and we hope you will enjoy learning about the many attributes that make our city so special. On this site, you can find access to information about our governmental structure, staff and officials, as well as many of our amenities and future growth.
The City of Piperton was incorporated in 1974 and is the key gateway between Fayette and Shelby County, Tennessee. We are located in the southwest corner of Fayette County, adjoining the town of Collierville and Shelby County to the west and Marshall County, Mississippi to the south. Our city tax rate is one of the lowest in the county at $0.4176.
Residents of Piperton have varied reasons for living here, from the friendly community feel, to our outstanding city services and centralized location. We are only minutes from the Wolf River Conservancy where you can enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, as well as kayak and canoeing. Travel is made easy to Collierville, Memphis, and other surrounding cities with the use of Interstate 385 from Highway 57 to access major city shopping and eating venues. Whatever you are seeking, as a visitor or new resident, we welcome the opportunity to meet your needs.
The businesses that call Piperton home have the benefit of being centrally located within an economic corridor connected by major highways and thoroughfares. This provides plenty of traffic past our storefronts and easy access to the unique shops that abound within our quaint yet modern small town. Although we are praised for the attribute of a small community atmosphere, we always welcome opportunities to accommodate new growth, and constantly seek new ideas from our residents and business partners.
While we still remain small in comparison to our neighboring cities, we are experiencing tremendous growth, both residentially and commercially. However, despite the growth, Piperton still has that small town appeal that only a small community can offer. Whether you are seeking a new place to call home or you are just passing through, we welcome you to become part of our plan - "A Better Community Built on Small Town Values".
Thank you,
Mayor Henry Coats
